For some, sharing the gospel is a dim memory. For others, it’s an archaic command. For still others, it’s the call of a few. For too many, it’s difficult and riddled with feelings of fear, uncertainty, and unpreparedness. What all of these views lack is the rock-solid truth that God has called all of us; God will equip us; and God will do the work. When we take our eyes off ourselves, God is lifted high for all to see.
This was the theme of Amplify 2018, ‘Reimagining a Simple Gospel’, held on 26-28 June in Naperville, Illinois. This conference, which was sponsored by the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College, also served as the Lausanne North America Regional Gathering, to which all North American leaders connected with Lausanne were invited.
Amplify 2018 allowed participants to strip out the complexities of gospel witness and reveal the simplicity of the message that overcomes all barriers. Christ crucified. Christ lifted high. Our world made new. Participants reflected on questions such as: What does the simple, stripped gospel message look like to you? And how are you showing and sharing the gospel with a world in desperate need of it?
