An important question we must ask is, ‘Why are there so few people with disabilities serving as pastors, missionaries, and leaders of Christian organizations?’
The Lausanne Consultation on Disability Concerns, titled ‘Ministry Access’, asked this question and focused on access to ministry leadership roles for people with disabilities. It was held at the International Disability Center in Agoura Hills, California, USA, on 21 February immediately following the Joni and Friends’ Global Access Conference.
The primary focus of this gathering was on identifying the obstacles that stand in the way of people with disabilities being in ministry leadership roles and on prescribing a set of principles to help overcome these obstacles.
