Music streaming services are the new craving for music lovers. Many companies are fighting to get a piece of the pie thought to reach USD 27 billion by 2027. That is a huge pie.

Deezer, Pandora, and Spotify are three big players in this market. Listening to your playlists while jogging is part of the being free attitude. No need to bring your phone with you anymore while exercising. The Fitbit Versa and Fitbit Sense include a built-in GPS and a 2.5 Gb built-in memory that will let you download up to 150-200 tracks. That should be enough to keep you running or working out for a long time.

You may wonder how to connect your Fitbit to your Deezer account? So keep on reading. We will tell you everything—first, a word of caution. Synchronizing your Fitbit Smartwatch and Deezer may sound easy but be ready to try it several times. We have no idea why, but in our case, we had to redo the process at least five times to make it work properly finally. Not that it is difficult, but it is a bit tricky.

Ready? So let’s dive right into it.

How to connect your Fitbit Sense/Versa to Deezer?

Deezer is compatible with the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 2 and 3. But, of course, to benefit from the functionalities, you will need a Deezer membership to select songs from their 73+ million songs catalog.

Assuming that you are in good standing with Deezer, here is how to activate it on your smartwatch.

  1. Ensure that both the Deezer and the Fitbit App. are downloaded and installed either on your iOS or Android devices.
  2. Then open the Deezer App on your smartwatch by taping on the Deezer logo. A unique activation code will then be shown on your Fitbit watch screen.
  3. On your phone or computer, log to fitbit.com/deezer and enter the code.
  4. You will then be prompted to log in to your Deezer account.
  5. Log to your Fitbit app, tap on the Today Icon, Select your Device, Tap on Media and select Deezer to manage your playlists and download them on your watch.

The process may appear complex but is simple as long as you follow the steps. One word of caution, once your start connecting your device to your Deezer account, we recommend that you do not close the apps. In our case, we app to reenter the activation code at least three times. It was frustrating of course but it finally worked. So be patient and restart the process if something goes wrong.

How to download Deezer playlists on your Fitbit?

Your Fitbit Sense or Fitbit Versa will not let you browse through your Deezer account. To listen to music, you will need to download preestablished playlists.

Be aware that downloading a playlist takes time and will significantly impact your Fitbit device battery. We recommend that you plug your smartwatch into your charger while downloading the data. Be ready to wait up to 30 minutes if your playlist is long. While downloading ours, we got to disconnect and were concerned about having to restart the whole playlist downloading process from scratch. Do not worry. Even if there is a connection issue while you transfer the data, the downloading will restart from where it stopped.

Synchronizing your Deezer playlist with your Fitbit Sense is easy. The process is the following:

  1. Open your Fitbit App,
  2. Tap on the Today Icon and click on your profile picture in the top right corner of your smartphone screen,
  3. Tap on your device and tap on Media
  4. Select Deezer and tap on Add Music to choose the playlist you wish to synchronize with your watch. The downloading process should start automatically. If this is not the case, click on the three dots icon on the top right corner and choose “Force Sync Now.”

Once the playlists are downloaded, you will have the possibility to play them directly from your watch and even control the volume directly from the Fitbit screen. Do not forget to add a Bluetooth headset to your Fitbit Versa or Sense for maximum freedom.

If you run into troubles while trying to connect both services, do not hesitate to check on Deezer or Fitbit support pages.

What are the benefits of a Deezer Premium or HiFi subscription?

Deezer usually offer a couple of months free for new Fitbit users. However, keep in mind that for creating playlists and being able to download them to your Fitbit smartwatches, you will need to pay for a Deezer Premium or HiFi Subscription.

It will cost you around $14.99 to benefit from Deezer on your Fitbit. This may sound cheap, but when considering that you will probably have to pay for Fitbit Premium, you may pay close to $30 per month to make the most of your smartwatch.

To wrap up

The Fitbit Deezer integration is a nice feature that will attract Deezer users. However, for those who do not mind carrying their phone while exercising, we do not think the extra money you will have to pay is justified.

Overall, the Fitbit Deezer App is functional and easy to use and will let you download your playlist and even control them directly from your watch. For those who want to make the most of their smartwatch, this makes a lot of sense to use Deezer on your watch. For the rest of us, a phone is more than enough.
