The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 is finally available, and I love it. For less than $50, getting a brilliant and stylish fitness band that benefits from a large and bright screen is finally possible.

Installing a colorful clock face is an excellent idea to make the most of the excellent screen of the fitness tracker. Moreover, with the addition of the long-awaited Always On Display (AOD) feature, choosing a clock face is even more important.

This article will guide you through the different clock faces available for the Mi Band 7, how to choose, install them and even turn on the Always On display feature.

What are the Clock Faces Available for the Xiaomi Mi Band 7?

Accessing the various watch faces of the Mi Band 7 is straightforward. First, open the Mi Fitness or the Zepp App on your iOS or Android smartphone. Next, tap on “Device ” and then “Online” to access the clock faces already downloaded into the device-they are referred to as local- or the library of clock faces available online- referred to as online-.

The clock faces are free, which is a very positive point. They are grouped in categories that include:

  • New
  • Photos. It is even possible to add your own photos for ultimate personalization.
  • Mechanical
  • Utility
  • Simple
  • Paintings
  • Fashion
  • Digits
  • Animal

At the time of this writing, more than 100 clock faces are available to choose from. I like that the Band 7 clock faces are colorful and designed in such a way that they make the most of the oval screen. One issue I found though and that is directly linked to the shape of the screen is that the analog watch face can be hard to read. It seems that Xiaomi is aware of the issue as the clock faces available are mostly digital.

Contrary to the clock faces of the Fitbit Charge 5, the faces are not interactive, meaning that taping on them will not change the information being displayed. A reason to choose wisely the clock face you wish to install and that will best fit your needs.

How to install a new Clock Face on the Xiaomi Mi Band 7?

Up to 6 clock faces can be stored in the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 internal memory. It is then possible to change the clock face without using a smartphone. When willing to change on the go, keep your finger pressed on the display for a couple of seconds and choose from the six clock faces already stored in the device.

The installation process is simple for the clock faces that are available online. As a first step, ensure that your firmware is up to date as I could not install a clock face and received a couple of error messages.

Assuming that the firmware is up to date, installing the watch face on the Mi Band is as easy as selecting the one you like and tapping “Apply.” It could not be simpler than that.

How to activate Always On Display on the Xiaomi Band 7?

All the clock faces available also come with an Always On Display design. When choosing the one you like, the “normal” design will be presented on the left and the AOD design on the left.

I suggest you pay special attention to the AOD design and do not rush to install the “normal” mode one. In the end, the AOF clock face will be seen much more often than the activated one, so ensure that both designs meet your expectations and taste.

Turning on the Always On Display mode will, of course, have an impact on the battery life, but when considering that the battery is given up to 14 days, I do not think that it is something that should refrain you from activating the AOD mode.

The AOD mode is activated directly on the device and not through the App. So follow this procedure, and you should not have any problem:

  • Swipe up on the Mi Band 7 to access the different options.
  • Continue swiping up until you reach the “settings” icon and tap.
  • You will get into the Settings menu that shows “Watch Faces” on the top. Tap on the second option: “Display & Brightness.”
  • From there, tap on “Always On” and choose your preferred mode: Smart, Scheduled, All Day or Off.” Before activating, a prompt will inform you that the Always On Display mode will significantly reduce the battery life. Our favorite mode is the “Smart” one that detects if you are sleeping or not and will adapt the screen settings to your behavior.

How to Change The Time Format on the Mi Band 7?

Some of us had a career in the military or prefer to use the 24 hours time format. I certainly do. Most of the watch faces allow you to select your time format of choice.

Changing it takes place directly on the band. The steps are the followings:

  • Enter the Settings
  • Tap on the second option of the Watch Face & Time menu, “Time Format,” and select the one you want to apply. It is even possible to mirror the time format of your smartphone.
